The Cancer Society of The Bahamas moves one step closer toward achieving its objective of completing the Hospice wing of its Cancer Caring Centre, having been gifted the sum of $50,000 by Commonwealth Bank Ltd. The gift represents the third installment of the Bank’s ten-year commitment of $500,000 to the Society.
The building project has been an objective of the Society for many years, as it seeks to continue to provide a place of refuge and comfort for ailing Bahamians from around the country, living with or affected by the scourge of cancer.
Statistics place The Bahamas in the top twenty of countries around the world with astronomical incidences of cancers, the largest numbers presenting being Breast and Prostate. It is noted, that early detection vastly increases the survival rate and provides for greater options as far as treatment.
