The Bahamas Girl Guides Association moves one step closer to achieving its objective to complete stage one of its new headquarters, having been gifted the sum of $10,000 from Commonwealth Bank Ltd. Dr. Gail Saunders, Chairperson of the Building Committee, thanked Commonwealth Bank’s President, Mr. Raymond Winder and Executive Chairman, Mr. William Sands and members of the Board of Directors, for their generous contribution.
The building project has been an objective of the Association for many years. The current historic buildings have been inadequate, for some time, to facilitate and progress the programs of its 2300 members from around The Bahamas and host sister Guides from around the world.
Mrs. Davine Dawkins-Rolle, Vice President, Audit & Inspection, Commonwealth Bank, was on hand for the presentation, adding, ‘Commonwealth Bank firmly believes in the youth of our great nation and we are extremely delighted to support the wonderful efforts of an organization with such a rich history of leadership and the development of young girls and women. We encourage other members of Corporate Bahamas to join in the effort.’
Commonwealth Bank has an extensive corporate giving program including scholarships, humanitarian relief, youth development, health initiatives, sports and education. With more than 6,500 shareholders, Commonwealth Bank has 550+ employees and operates branches in New Providence, Abaco, Spanish Wells and Grand Bahama.
